Thank you for choosing Bing Bong (“the Application”). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data and other information. Our commitment is to respect your privacy and maintain a secure, transparent platform for users who wish to view and receive updates about New York City transit information. By using Bing Bong, you acknowledge and agree to the practices and policies outlined in this Privacy Policy.
We want to make it clear that we do not collect, store, sell, or share any personally identifying information about our users. We do not require you to provide any personal data to use Bing Bong, and we have no interest in monitoring or tracking individual users.
The Application may request access to your device’s location for the purpose of identifying nearby subway stations or bus stops for providing more accurate transit information. This access is purely optional; however, some features may not function fully if you choose not to grant location permissions.
How We Use Location Data: We only use your approximate or precise location in real-time to display nearby stations. This process happens locally on your device and helps the Application to present relevant transit times without requiring you to manually select stations.
No Storage or Persistence of Location: We do not store or persist your location data on our servers or within any long-term databases. Once the Application has used your location to identify nearby points of interest, that location data is not retained.
No Sharing of Location: We do not share your location data with any third parties for marketing or any other purposes. Location information is never associated with your identity (as we do not collect personally identifying information).
Although we do not collect personal information, Bing Bong may receive non-personal device information or general usage data strictly for debugging and analytical purposes. This data is anonymous, aggregated, and not tied back to any specific user.
We utilize DataDog to gather logs that help us identify and fix application issues. The logs may include data regarding device types, timestamps, and other technical metadata. However, this metadata does not identify any specific user, and we do not store or use it beyond the scope of debugging and error resolution. All data handled through DataDog is used solely to ensure Bing Bong performs optimally.
Bing Bong also integrates with Google Play Services, Firebase Analytics, and Crashlytics to track crashes, application performance, and aggregate usage trends. These services may automatically collect certain data as part of normal application analytics, such as device information and anonymized user engagement metrics. However, we do not store, collect, or use any personally identifiable information provided by these services. Our use of these third-party tools is strictly limited to understanding application stability and performance in order to improve our product.
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer any user information to outside parties. Since Bing Bong does not collect personal data, there is no opportunity or intention for this data to be shared or monetized.
Bing Bong may occasionally contain links to third-party content or websites, such as transit or map services, for the convenience of our users. Please note that we do not operate or control these external sites, and their respective privacy practices may differ from ours. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party services you choose to engage with through Bing Bong.
Bing Bong does not target or knowingly collect personal information from children. We believe it is important to protect the privacy of children, and we encourage parents or guardians to be involved in their children’s online activities.
We are committed to safeguarding the data we handle, even though we do not collect personally identifiable information. We strive to maintain standard security measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction of any non-personal data that might be temporarily stored or processed as part of our debugging and analytics efforts. However, no transmission or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.
We reserve the right to update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page, and the revised version will be indicated by an updated “Effective Date.” We encourage you to periodically review this Privacy Policy to stay informed about how we are working to protect your information.
